Speaking at Norton during Oliver Mutukidy's funeral last week, musician Leonard Jacquat said he was angry at the government's failure to grant national status to Dick "Cde Chinx" Chingaira when he died in 2017.
But he said he was happy that the government had granted Mtukudzi national hero status. Jacques said he has his own wishlist of national musical heroes consisting of the late Cde Chinx, the late Mtukudzi and Thomas Mapfumo. Said Jacques:
Honestly, I personally was angry at the government's decision when they announced Cde Chinx as a protagonist, not a national hero. If, seriously, the government failed to honor celebrity figures such as Cde Chinx, then who will be the real hero?
