Zimbabwe's telecom billionaire Strave Massive now has a net worth of 2.3 billion dollars, according to Forbes Africa. Forbes has compiled its annual list of the richest Africans and Massive is number 8. Its net worth has grown from $ 1.6 billion last year.
Among the few in the list that are richer than a year ago is Střevez Massive of Zimbabwe, worth about $ 2.3 billion, compared to $ 1.6 billion last year. He is richer because of the rise in Econet Wireless Zimbabwe's stock price and the new investment that has increased the value of its stake in Liquid Telecom.
… He owns just over 50% of the publicly traded Econet Wireless Zimbabwe, part of his bigger Econet group. Masiyiwa also owns just over half of the privately owned Liquid Telecom, which provides optical and satellite services to telecoms companies in Africa. His other assets include units in mobile networks in Burundi and Lesotho, as well as investments in companies for finite and distribution in Africa. He and his wife Cizzi founded the Higherlife Foundation, which supports orphans and poor children in Zimbabwe, South Africa, Burundi and Lesotho.
Forbes said Masiyiwa was on the list, even though he was based in London for his big companies in Africa.
Massive shares 8th place with Angola Isabelle dos Santos, Egyptian Mohammed Mansour and South Africans Koos Becker and Patrice Motsepe. Number 1 in the list for the 8th year in the role is Nigerian cement billionaire Alico Dangote, now worth 10.3 billion dollars.
