The story of Dumbledore's sister Ariana reveals – how his death could be the key to Fantastic Animals

Whatever your feelings in Fantastic Beasts as a franchise, there is no denying that it helps Harry Potter fans fill in the blanks.

JK Rowling created the entire vast world of magic with the first collection of books and now Fantastic Beasts open them even further, perfecting the characters we know and love.

One such character is Dumbledore.

In Harry Potter we know him as the headmaster of Hogwarts, and one of the greatest wizards that ever existed.

However, in the history of his family, we don't know much about it, but now everything changes.

In Fantastic Animals: Grindelwald's crimes we learn about Dumbledore's brothers.

At the end of the film, we find Credence actually is Albus's relationship and he is called Aurelius.

We have never heard of Dumbledore before, they are new to the universe.

Another name that we hear on film, though, rings more than a bell: Ariana Dumbledore.

Dumbledore took him when he chatted with Leta, saying he understood his pain over his brother.

But what happened to Ariana?

Who is Ariana Dumbledore?

"You know the secret to my sister's health, what Muggles do, what happens," said Dumbledore in the book, but what did he mean?

Ariana can only be mentioned in the latest film, but she is actually the key enough to understand Dumbledore and Grindelwald.

In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows we learn the whole backstory especially from Aberforth, the waiter at Hog's Head Pub … what we learned is Albus' brother.

In the book, he revealed that Ariana was attacked by three muggle boys when he was young.

At the age of six he was "attacked" by boys. "They have seen him do magic, spy on the back garden fence; he is still small, he cannot control it, there are no witches or magicians of that age. What they say makes them afraid, I think," he said.

"They forced themselves past the hedgerow, and when he couldn't show the trick, they were carried away a little trying to stop the little freak from doing it."

Aberforth

Aberforth said Ariana was hurt by all trials and would not use her magic after that.

Aberforth described it as mostly 'sweet, and fearful, and harmless' & # 39; but the magic isn't lost, so it turns inside and it drives it crazy. The magic exploded when he was angry or upset, similar to Credence.

This is not the worst of his torture. His father, Percival, then attacked the children for what they had done and finally locked up in Azkaban.

Percival never revealed why he attacked the boys because he was afraid that if the Ministry learned that Ariana had been sent insane he would be sent to St Mungo's Hospital for Magic Disease and Injury.

Dumbledore and Aberforth were sent to school and their mother Kendra was left to look after Ariana.

The family then moved from Mold-on-The-Wold to Godric's Hollow.

Ariana was no longer allowed to leave the house except at night when Kendra tried to keep it a secret. Albus and Aberforth lied to their classmates and said he was too weak to attend school

In the biography of Rita Skeeter, The Life and Lies of Albus Dumbledore, he claimed it was Kendra's shame because he had produced a Squib which made him distance him from the public eye.

Ariana is not a squib, she sounds more like Obscurial – the same as Credence.

At the age of 14, Ariana flew into anger and the explosion of magic killed Kendra.

"Then, when he was fourteen … look, I wasn't there," Aberforth said. "If I'm there, I can calm him down. He goes berserk, and my mother isn't as young as he is, and … it's an accident. Ariana can't control it. But my mother was killed."

Albus, who had just graduated and planned to travel, was now forced to return home and look after Ariana, insisting that her sister Aberforth remained in school.

In the Deathly Hallows it reads:

"I am talented, I am brilliant. I want to escape. I want to shine. I want glory.
"Don't get me wrong," he said, and the pain crossed his face so he looked old again. "I love them. I love my parents, I love my brothers and sisters, but I'm selfish, Harry, more selfish than you, who is a person who is very selfless, might be able to imagine.
"So, when my mother died, and I was left behind by the responsibility of the broken sister and a stubborn brother, I returned to my village in anger and bitterness. Stuck and wasted, I thought! And then, of course, he came … "

By him, Dumbledore means Grindelwald, who also appeared in Godric's Hollow to live with his aunt, Bathilda Bagshot.

Soon Dumbledore and Grindelwald became an inseparable plan & # 39; a new magic order & # 39; and look into Hallows. Aberforth felt this left Ariana alone and was ignored by her brother.

Aberforth faced the pair and a fight ensued, which led to a duel. Grindelwald uses Cruciatus Cruse in Aberforth.

Ariana panicked and her magic exploded again – even though Aberforth said she thought she was trying to help.

What finally happened was nothing but, and he lost control of his magic.

Aberforth said: "… I took out my wand, and he pulled out his wand, and I had the Cruciatus Curse that was used for me by my brother's best friend – and Albus tried to stop it, and then the three of us dueled, and the lights that blinked and bangs made him die he can't stand it— "

It sounds as if Grindelwald hit him with a curse, though it is not clear.

"Grindelwald lost control. That's what I always felt in him, thought I pretended not to know, now appeared to be a terrible creature. And Ariana … after all my mother's attention and attention … lay dead on the floor."

Ariana was killed in the battle, making Albus attacked.

On the side of the coffin Ariana, her brother fought which caused Albus's nose to break. The couple was then made, but sadness still remained.

So when Albus took him with Leta, he spoke from a painful place. He clearly felt as if he let his sister down. He talks about doing more and regret.

His battle and death overshadowed him and following this was what drove Grindelwald and Albus apart.

This is also the reason the relationship between Albus and Aberforth became disturbed later in the books. Aberforth paid homage to his sister with her picture at Hog's Head Pub.

Ariana's death had far-reaching influence – we also knew Albus realized his obsession with Hallows had ruined his judgment, prompting him to reject the work of the Minister of Magic.

Stone of Resurrection

This also most likely encouraged him to then leave after Grindelwald finally arrived a few years later.

We also studied in books that it was Ariana who tempted Albus to install the damned ring containing the Resurrection Stone, which was one of the Voldemort Horcruxes.

"I wear it, and for a moment I imagine that I will see Ariana, and my mother, and my father, and tell them how very, very sorry I am …"

So, will Ariana play a bigger role in the story of Credence? Will it appear in Fantastic Beasts 3? We have to wait and see.
