The celebration of the International Conservative Day has been aiming to promote their responsible use by 2012 and thus prevent sexually transmitted diseases as well as unwanted pregnancies.
It was created by the AIDS Foundation and has been replicated in more than 31 countries. The date was set for the day before "St. Valentine" and seeks to raise awareness among young people. "Based on the responses of more than 30,000 people who conducted a rapid and confidential HIV test, we found that only 14.5% always use a condom, while 65% use it sometimes and 20%, 5% have admitted it never use ", they report Miguel Pedrolla, Scientific Director for Latin America and the Caribbean, and Natalia HaagNational Coordinator for Prevention and Testing of AHF Argentina.
One of the main causes of the spread of sexually transmitted infections remains ignorance, discrimination and disinformation, as well as the lack of sexual education in homes and schools. And that is, there is some kind of condom rejection among young people, so the existence of campaigns that point to its constant and correct use in sexual relations is of paramount importance.
In 2018, AHF Argentina provided over 627,000 free condoms from its own LOVE brand in the country. "It is a reality that the loss of habit of using a condom increases sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and the best way to protect yourself is through safe sex, affirmed the local representatives of Dafa Argentina. For this reason, the organization promotes HIV / STI prevention and healthy lifestyles by sharing information about the proper use of condoms.
For this they report that it is important to check the expiry date of the condom use; use it from the beginning of the sexual relationship; open the envelope carefully so that the condom does not break; do not use cutters or teeth; squeeze the tip of the condom to remove the air before resting on the erect penis because if it is swollen it can break during the connection; unfold it to the base of the penis, making sure that the tip does not swell; do not use petroleum jelly, oil or hand cream because they can damage the condom; and should be used only once and discarded.
