Melbourne dentist Nashah Michael shut down for obscene attack on patient nurse

A Melbourne dentist who sexually exploits his patients and a nurse will spend at least four and a half years in prison.

Michael, 60, is sentenced to seven years and three months in prison after he has been convicted of striving forcefully against eight patients and a staff member between 1996 and 2015.

"Actually they were in captivity in your chair. It was quite ruthless, "Andrew Tinny, District Court Judge, said on Thursday.

In one case, Michael rubbed the woman's stomach and put a hand on his trousers, touching her hairy hair. She tried to make a sound but had dental equipment in her mouth and pushed him off.

Then Michael put his hand on his jeans, under his snowdrops and made circles on his abdomen, the court was announced.

He would often hit when he was a nurse, but he did not know, and in one case, when his wife, who worked in practice, was in the next room.

Michael's violation of 1997 and lasted for decades, said Judge Michael Tiny.

Michael denied the first three crimes and committed himself to be tried in 2017, before six more women went ahead, indicating him guilty.

"That was the net weight of the numbers that led to your case," said Judge Tiny.

"It is clear that the six additional complaints are the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back."

Michael was already banned from curing women from the Australian Health Regulatory Agency in November 2016.

His registration was discontinued after a man died after the wizards were removed in August.

A court pathologist links death to dental surgery, and the investigator investigates.

Michael must have at least four and a half years in prison before he is allowed to discharge.
