Shaun Johnson has arrived home in the dark about his future at the Warriors and is ready to be open-minded about where he plays next.

The long-serving Kiwis playmaker was visited by reporters at Auckland Airport when the national team dropped after they lost 2-1 in England but could give light to the prospect of the NRL.

While the series was folded, Warriors chief executive Cameron George announced a half-year-old 28-year-old was free to explore his options elsewhere, even though he had one year to run on his contract.

Johnson made sure there were no people in the Warriors who were in contact but planned to immediately resolve the situation.

Meeting with manager Peter Brown is a priority and also "talking to anyone who is interested in chatting, really".

Johnson cannot say whether he will be at Mt Smart Stadium next year, has been a high profile figure at the Kiwi club that has been less than good since his debut in 2011.

"This is business at the end of the day," Johnson said.

"I made my debut, I played all my footies for the Warriors and it was a club that, regardless of whether I was here for the next few years, I will always love.

"I received tremendous support, there were many people who sent positive messages. So for now I can't tell you what will happen but what I know is that I will enjoy my rest, will enjoy spending time with my family and hopefully soaking in some of this sun. "George has confirmed he plans to talk to Johnson as soon as the Kiwis arrive home.

Johnson will take several mixed forms for his country to each club negotiations. He was silenced in the first two Test defeats in England, but, like a handful of teammates, was far better in the third 34-0 Test victory on Sunday.
