The BMW plant in Steyr will reduce the production line from the current three to two shifts at the end of February. This is reported by the Oberösterreichische Nachrichten on Saturday. Christoph Schroeder, managing director of the plant, confirmed the measure to OÖN. It will run from the nine calendar weeks after the September holidays in Upper Austria.
There is no information on the effects of staff capacity reduction. In Steyr, according to OÖN, BMW has a high percentage of temporary workers, they will first be affected by the drop in shifts. At the moment, relocations from other engines, which have higher staff requirements, consider Steir, the report said.
