So far, news on WhatsApp status has been sorted by time of appearance. But that can change soon – at least on iOS. Because WhatsApp is testing a new algorithm there.
WhatsApp is currently testing what is called the ranking feature on iOS. Message bearers provide contacts in the status area according to how often users interact with them. This reports the "WhasAppBetaInfo" page.
Contacts that receive better ratings will then be displayed more clearly in the status area. So far, contacts in the status area are sorted according to when they last published an update.
According to "WhasAppBetaInfo", the new algorithm analyzes the interactions with WhatsApp contacts as follows: If a user ignores a message from a contact, the algorithm gives it a "bad" rating. Contacts who regularly exchange messages with users receive a "normal" rating. Anyone who exchanges media data, such as pictures, receives a good rating. And contact with whom the user calls via WhatsApp receives the best rating. In addition, the algorithm also analyzes how users interact with contacts in group chats.
Recently, all iOS users have the opportunity to participate in the WhatsApp beta program and download the trial version of Messenger. According to "Computerbild.de" out of 10,000 test places given. Who wants to try being a beta tester, you have to Install the "Testflight" application.
With the help of the beta program, WhatsApp tests new features of the program on the user's smartphone.
