An International Day Against Lyme Disease passes through Lyon

This Saturday, many events are scheduled all over France as part of an international movement that rejects the Lym's patients' denial. This will be the case in Lyon, where the associations have chosen to call for a human chain with a green band, their symbol.

Lyme disease or Lyme boreliosis affects 27,000 people each year in France. This is an infection caused by a bacterium transmitted during a tick bite. The infection is often without symptoms. However, it can sometimes cause a disabling condition (permanent joint pain, partial paralysis of the limbs …).

Raising Awareness and Protests

Awareness raising and protesting are the two objectives of the International Day for the Disease Control of Lime. Awareness raising on prevention: ticks in forests, gardens and fields can pollute walkers and anyone in contact with nature.

France Lyme, an association against vector-borne illnesses, also wishes to express a strong protest condemning the inadequacy of diagnostic tests for tick-borne diseases and serious studies of these pathologies. The following report illustrates this delay from research due to lack of funding.

Lyme disease: delayed research
The Ministry of Health and the High Authority of Health believe that the scientific achievements of Lyme disease are indispensable. However, he does not lend himself.
