The Competition Commission sanctioned the Fantastico chain for a prize-winning game held in November last year, in which, against a purchase of at least $ 25, the company organized a raffle with object prizes, including smartphones, shopping vouchers and holiday vouchers.
The Commission found that information on the threshold for participation was not mentioned in the brochure of the chain and there was only a reference to the trader's website. This could mislead consumers, concludes the agency.
This is also motivated by the sanction of misleading advertising of BGN 162,256 to the organizer – Van Holding. The amount is 0.1% of the company's net revenue for 2018. The decision the commission says it has self-handled is subject to appeal.
However, following a complaint lodged by rival Lidl Bulgaria, the commission has audited Fantastico's bid for two products at the price of one, held again in November. The signal of Lidl is motivated by the fact that Fantastico provides a free supply of an add-on to a commodity.
However, the Commission finds that this practice is widely used by other market participants and that it is a sale at a discount of the price of the same products offered for sale together.
