After Samsung, LG hints for a folding smartphone

After Samsung, her South Korean competitor, LG hinted she would release a folding smartphone, media reported. The smartphone manufacturer has filed three registrations of the brand – Flex, Foldi, and Duplex at the EUIPO (European Intellectual Property Office).

"All three apps are categorized in Class 9, which includes smartphones, so it's pretty sure LG claims that these names are used for any future devices that are made, foldable or otherwise," Engadget announced late Friday .

However, it was not clear whether the names would be used for a smartphone or other device.

"The first two," Flex "and" Foldi ", are quite clear and synonymous with the Samsung Galaxy F and Huawei Flexi / Flex brands. On the other hand," Duplex "is an interesting choice for LG, uses the word for its generating function of calls that have just begun to spread to users, "said PhoneArena.

Samsung plans to release its first folding smartphone in March next year, along with the 5th generation (5G) network Galaxy S10.

South Korea's technology giant plans to launch the flagship smartphone Galaxy S10 in February, followed by a foldable Galaxy F and another Galaxy S10, which runs on a 5G network in March.
