Being awake during brain surgery: "You move between the worlds"

When Musa Mansini was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor, the surgeons decided that there was only one way to do the removal surgery: while Musa was awake.

A very unusual practice in South Africa, surgeons woke Musa out of anesthesia after they broke a hole in his head and asked him to play the guitar while they were operating.

Although they have removed 90% of the tumor, they can not be sure they will not return.

Musa hopes to continue making music, and surgeons even promise to buy the next album.
