A breach of infection control at a local hair transplant clinic has the health unit urging anyone treated at the facility to seek medical attention.
The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit said everyone who went to the Guaranteed Hair Transplant Clinic at 1291 Wyandotte St. E. between April 2017 and November 2018 should see a doctor. The medical followup could include blood testing for hepatitis B, C, and HIV.
"This precaution is being issued following a report and investigation of an identified breach in infection and control practices at the facility in November," the health unit said in a release.
The business has since shut down, the health unit said, so there is no longer a threat to public safety.
Due to inadequate documentation practices at the facility and the inability to follow up with patrons directly, the health unit is asking people to self-identify and seek medical help.
For more information, go to the health unit's website or call its environmental health department at 519-258-2146 ext. 4475.
