Highway 1A near Gleneagles Drive in Grasshopper is reopened after a clash on Thursday morning.
The road was cleared around 12:10 am, 511 Alberta reported on Twitter. Both directions of the highway to the east and west were affected.
The video from Global 1 seemed to show a cube with a van and another vehicle with serious damage.
In a message, RCMP said four vehicles heading west were trying to stop traffic and the first three "took part in minor backlash."
The RCMP said the fourth car had tried to avoid the rear of the car in front of it and "dropped into the eastern lanes by colliding with a forward Hyundai Elantra Sel."
The person inside Elantra was taken to a hospital in Calgary with serious injuries. No one else was injured, RCMP said.
