CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida – The dropping out of communication delayed Christmas delivery at the International Space Station.
The SpaceX capsule, full of holiday accessories, reached 10 meters from Saturday's orbital complex. But the problem with the satellite communications network has caused a final delay.
For safety, the Control Mission led the Dragon capsule to return to the 30-meter point. Communication temporarily dropped, meanwhile, between the space station and the Earth Controllers.
NASA says there's no reason to think that the Dragon can not go up on Saturday, three days after his release from Cape Canaveral, Florida. The problem is with equipment in New Mexico serving the satellite tracking and data transmission system. NASA switches to another TDRS (T-driss) satellite to overcome the problem.
