Summer, Sun, Lake Day: Whoever forgets the sunscreen now risks sunburn. In the long term, skin damage from UV rays can prematurely age the skin, accelerate wrinkling, or promote skin cancer. 1. Use the pipe from the previous year

2. Put on the wrong power

With SPF 20 you always right? Mistake! The appropriate sun protection factor is based on skin type:

  • SPF 50 need people with photosensitive type I: They have light skin, reddish to red-blond hair and blue or green eyes.
  • SPF 30 to 50 is useful for people belonging to type II: they also have light skin, blond to light brown hair and blue, gray or green eyes.
  • SPF 15 to 25 people with type III skin need it: their complexion is light brown, their hair is dark blond to brown, their eyes brown.
  • Weak SPF from 6 to about 10 is useful for people belonging to Mediterranean type IV: They have olive complexion, dark brown hair and brown eyes.

Also important: In the sea, in the mountains or on long hikes, choose a higher protection factor – this applies to all skin types.

Regular cream helps maintain sunscreen and is especially important when you move, sweat a lot or get out of the water. However, this does not extend the maximum protection time, it is calculated as follows: Light skin types can remain in the sun for up to ten minutes without protection. Sunscreen with a factor of 30 prolongs this period by 30 times – that's about 300 minutes. This is a maximum of five hours.

4. Apply medium too thin

Sunscreen should always be applied generously, especially on so-called sun terraces such as the nose, ears, shoulders and neckline. The sunshine here is particularly intense. It should be two milligrams of sunscreen per square centimeter of skin.

5. Only rely on the effect of sunscreen

The fact is: no sunscreen protects 100 percent of the UV rays. The maximum sunshine should never be exhausted at best. Wide peripheral hats and wipes optimize sun protection and prevent skin damage.
