Népszava For years nothing was known about the Magyar Posta rival in Budapest but allegedly succeeded

In offices in New York, Paris, Rome and Hamburg – their existence has not been convincingly explained by National Bank Hungary – employees are also paid a monthly salary and one million forint.

Since 2015, Magyar Nemzeti Bank (MNB), led by Gyorny Matolcsy, has spent more than HUF 800 million in taxpayers' money in four foreign liaison offices opened in Hamburg, Paris, Rome and New York. Only somewhat vague information given on the central bank's website shows that they are working on this:
  • keep in touch with the work of local economic institutions;
  • read local newspapers, write business bulletins;
  • attend local university work and conferences;
  • "innovation area" is remembered;
  • on behalf of MNB.

Pannon Róna, an economist, former member of the Central Bank Supervisory Board, told the Hungarian Nation beforehand. He argued that these tasks were largely beyond the obligations of MNB. You don't have to have a personal presence and you don't usually rent foreign offices among central banks. For example, the French central bank is represented by an embassy employee, half the time.

As the 24th application of public interest data revealed, MNB spent more than HUF 200 million in public funds for housing support for 2-4 office staff members. In addition, their salaries have cost taxpayers up to 201 million. The best-paid employees receive more than a month net worth 900,000 forces, but the lowest assistant salary also exceeds the net million and a half million. This is also due to an annual allowance of 540,000 per year.

The amount of spending that is professionally unjustified is still unclear: the central bank plans to open the same office in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina.
