Rwanda says its border with the Congo remains open

KIGALI, Aug 1 (Reuters) – Rwanda's health minister said the border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo remained open Thursday, seeming to contradict an earlier statement that the border was closed near the Congolese city of Ebola.

"The border has never been closed or closed," Diane Gashumba told reporters as he sat next to Minister of State for External Affairs Olivier Nudungirehe, who had earlier said it was closed.

The delay in border traffic is caused by increased screening for Ebola, not stopping, Gashumba said. (Reporting by Clement Uwingriman, Writing by Duncan Miriri Editing by Andrew Heavens)
