Among the rumors linking him to the distance from the Crystal Palace, the wing of Ivorian Wilfrid Zaha left AWOL on the final day.

Zaha is heavily linked with a move to fellow Premier League Everton, and according to the Toffees, it is nearing completion of a deal for the former Manchester United winger.

It is now said that the only stumbling block is Palace's estimate of 80 million pounds (R1.4 billion) for the African star, which Everton does not seem to want to match.

According to Sky Sports, the Merseyside club saw a bid of £ 70m (R1.2bn) plus players rejected on Wednesday, prompting residents to submit a transfer request.

Now Zaha took matters into his own hands to force a transfer and was unable to report on the club's training this morning.

The move comes as a blow to Palace, who could now lose his star, and with the transfer window closed later today, there will be little time to replace him.

If Everton improves his bid, Zaha could become the most expensive African player of all time, breaking the £ 72m (R1.3bn) record recently set by new Arsenal signing Nicola Pepe.

The Ivory Coast has scored 53 goals in 323 appearances during his two spells with the Eagles.
