Global smartphone sales are projected to grow 2.5 percent this year

[ad_1] – Market research company Gartner Research has released a report on global trends in smartphone sales. Based on this data, smartphone sales are expected to fall 2.5 percent this year compared to 2018.

Reporting by GSM Arena through Liputan6.comOn Saturday (3/8), Gartner expects smartphone sales to drop from $ 1.55 billion in 2018 to $ 1.51 billion by the end of this year. This decline in sales is observed in most regions, including Eastern Europe, Asia Pacific, North America and Japan.

For example, smartphone sales in the Eastern European region are projected to fall from 47 million units to 45 million. Sales of smartphones in Japan are also expected to decline significantly from 33.9 million to 31.7 million.

"In mature markets, especially in the high-end smartphone market, there are oversupply and goods with higher average selling prices. Moreover, there is no usefulness for new consumer experiences that can be upgraded," Gartner said in a report.

Smartphone sales will grow again in 2020. Gartner estimates that global smartphone sales will increase by 1560 853 next year. This growth will be driven by the availability of networks and 5G mobile phones.
