More than 700 local volunteers from all over the country – including a number of local schools, men's wards, corporate partners and the Irish Women's Association – will sell € 3 Memory Ribbon pins for sale on the streets in communities, cities and towns throughout Ireland .
Our Cellular Information Bus service, run by trained staff and volunteers and creates a unique opportunity to raise awareness about dementia, will be in Bray, Co Wicklow on a day with staff ready to answer questions from community members and volunteers selling ribbon memory.
The famous CÓRus Choir will also be preforming outside the Gaiety Theater starting at 1.00pm and The People & # 39; College Choir will perform at the Jervis Street Shopping Center starting at 12.00 noon.
The Alzheimer's Society of Head of Fundraising Ireland Mairéad Dillon said:
"Dementia has a very bad impact on the family. Services such as home care, child care and support groups help thousands of people overcome them. The Alzheimer's community in Ireland lacks funding and the demand for services continues to increase, so we really need this Christmas support if we want to maintain important services for those who really need it.
"By sharing memory and donating € 3 to the Alzheimer's Memory Ribbon campaign, community members will give gifts that will change lives. Every € 3 donated will go directly to providing vital services for people living with dementia and loving families who support them.
"Every ribbon purchased by community members will directly help fund vital services, such as our 51-day care center across the country that provides specialist care for people with dementia or our home care services that provide trained dementia care workers to people in the comfort and safety of their own homes.
