Part B1 of the Grand Stage of Mezhaparks is currently under construction. More than 42% of the planned construction work has already been completed, representatives of the Riga Municipal Council inform.
On the outdoor stage, Mežaparks has the first metal columns on the dome that will form the roof structure of the outdoor stage. The project is unique not only in Latvia, but also worldwide. There will be a total of 44 columns, the longest of which will be 26 meters high and weigh 21 tons.
The construction of the inclined floor of the stage building is completed, the installation of external metal stairs and railings, the construction of waterproofing and the installation of precast concrete elements of the inclined floor and stage steps.
The construction work is being carried out by the LNK RERE Joint Partnership, commissioned by the Riga City Council Property Department, and is scheduled to be completed on June 18, 2020, before the 12th celebration of songs and dances in Latvia.
As you know, on Friday, August 16, the 15,000 square feet of Mežaparks Grand Stage, covered with green grass, was the first opportunity to relax in Latvia's biggest picnic and watch the new Megaparks Big Stage be built.
The Auseklītis Wind Orchestra welcomed the picnic guests. The power of the songs, created by composer and instrumentalist Raymonds Tigelis, was performed by the artistic director and conductor of the National Guard Choir Stars Šķepasts. The atmosphere of the evening was complemented by the traditional sounds of the cockle and modern improvisations by chef Lyme Janson. The ceremonial orchestra plays all night long. Fun toys and fun games for kids were provided by the fabulous characters from Fairytale House for Kids. The picnic was a chance to taste the cuisine and refreshments of different countries in collaboration with Street food Latvia. It is possible to buy goods made by Latvian craftsmen and local craftsmen.
