Dr Abbas Sharaki, a professor of geology and water resources at the University of Cairo, said that 80% of Arab countries are below the water poverty threshold, pointing out that intense water stress is concentrated in the countries of the Middle East and North Africa.
He added that only 4 of the 24 Arab countries have a water share of more than 1,000 cubic meters of water. Health is a wealth that must be used and recycled in order to benefit from it in agriculture in the light of the current stability of water resources.
A professor of geology and water resources at the University of Cairo said that 85% of fresh water is used in agriculture, despite the economic returns he described as "low", emphasizing the need to divert water to higher economic uses value.
