One cunning creep checks almost every four

November is globally known as "Bearded November" (or "Movember"), when men are encouraged to check for prostate cancer.

The State Patient Fund at the Ministry of Health (VLK), with the invitation of Lithuanian men to participate for free in the prostate cancer prevention program, contributed to this initiative along with the Lithuanian Society of Prostate Cancer (LSPVD) and the Barzdai Club.

"For ten months this year, according to the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund (PSDF) budget, a prostate cancer prevention program funded by more than 84 thousand people has been tested.

This means that 374 thousand. Lithuanian men, who can be tested free of prostate cancer according to their age group, are diagnosed with only one in four.

Prostate cancer is the most common malignancy in men and women in Lithuania and in Europe, and the cause increases every year. Therefore, we want to urge men not to delay and approach their family doctors as soon as possible and to check their health ", – said Oksana Burokienė, Senior Specialist from the VLK Service Skills and Control Department.

According to him, prostate cancer is a very maladaptive disease, because in the early stages of the disease the patient does not experience any symptoms, and when it occurs, the disease is advanced and treatment becomes more difficult.

Early detection of cancer is much easier to cure. Therefore, to diagnose this disease as early as possible, the disease fund prepared a prevention program for prostate cancer, of which only 2.3 million people were allocated this year. from the PSDF budget.

Men and women aged 50 to 69 (inclusive) can participate in this prevention program, and if their parents or siblings have prostate cancer since the age of 45 years. In addition, if the husband is not the age of a programmer but has complaints about his health, he must also contact your doctor immediately.

"Until now, it's embarrassing to talk about men's health. Now, men are more daring to admit that they also need courage, often friendship, community and, of course, knowledge. They begin to realize that they have timely health checks or change their habits can save not only health, life, but also family, "said Barzdai President Club Valdas Samkus. According to VLK specialists, men have no reason to fear prostate cancer research.

During the test, blood samples were taken, which showed the amount of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) in the blood. If within the PSA limit, the patient is healthy, and if he is elevated – the GP sends him to a specialist's advice.

Treatment only begins if the condition is detected by a urologist to correct the diagnosis. The patient's cash register reminds you that currently 4 cancer prevention programs can be tested for free in Lithuania – prostate, colon cancer, cervix and breast.
