SERDANG: A pick-up truck driver believed to be involved in a hit-and-run hit that killed a guard at the hawker center in Equine Park here has been arrested.
As OCPD Asst Comm Ismadi Borhan said the man was arrested around 1.43 on Monday.
"The urine was tested negative for drugs but we have taken blood samples to measure the level of alcohol.
"He will be handed over today," he said when contacted.
The incident, which occurred at around 8:15 a.m. on Sunday, saw the vehicle crashing into a table in the open area of a hawker center along Jalan Equine 9B.
"After the initial collision, the driver only drove and hit three other vehicles there – Perodua Myvi, Perodua Bezza and Lexus," ACP Ismadi said.
He added that a woman in her 50s died at the scene, while at least three others suffered injuries.
"The deceased and the wounded were taken to Serdang Hospital.
"We have collected CCTV footage from the area to identify the vehicles involved," he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987 because it caused death by reckless or dangerous driving.
