The New Mayor of the Alvaro Obregon earthquake today July 14, 2019



On the dawn of this Sunday, a new one was registered seism with an epicenter of 2.1 Town Hall of Alvaro Obregon,

on National Seismological Service (SSN) announced that Friday, July 12, 2019, four earthquakes were registered epicenter in Mexico City; one in the office of Mayor Miguel Hidalgo and three Alvaro Obregon.

on seism, which occurred at 4:47 am, was of magnitude 2.1 to Mayor Miguel Hidalgo, the second, at 07:38, had a magnitude of 2.5 and felt in Town Hall of Alvaro Obregonfrom Mexico City.

The third one also happened in Town Hall of Alvaro Obregon at 07:51 and had a magnitude of 2.0.

The fourth occurred in the same field at 10:08 and was 2.3.

Earthquake amplitudes are low and felt in several areas of Mexico City due to its proximity to the epicenter site and its shallow depth.

Why are earthquakes in Mexico City recorded?

But why earthquakes in Mexico City have been reported, according to reports from the National Seismological Service, that the Mexican Basin, where CDMX is located, is one of the most important physico-geographic features of the country: the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt (FVTM) stretches from the Gulf of Mexico to the Pacific Ocean in the direction of EW and is one of Mexico's most important topographical strata.

The FVTM houses buildings and volcanic remains, among which are the highest peaks and the most active volcanoes in Mexico.

Mexico's swimming pool is located in the central part of the FVTM and is completely surrounded by mountains dominated by the most important volcanic buildings such as Toluka.

The pool has an elongated shape with an N-S orientation of approximately 110 km along its main axis, and its E-W orientation is approximately 80 km.

Usually seismic activity from the pool of Mexico and its surroundings are small and low in size.

It is also believed that these events may arise as a result of the build-up of regional tensions, or that the collapse of the Mexican Valley may cause tensions, which, although it does not generate the right earthquake, may cause them (Havskov, 1982).

There is also the hypothesis that large earthquakes generated along the coast can lead to unstable conditions and cause local earthquakes (Singh et al., 1998).

Mexico's pool has a complex geology and tectonics, so it's not surprising to have small earthquakes in the area.

When a seism to a significant extent, the rocks that are close to the tear area undergo regrouping, which generates a series of shocks in the area receiving the name replicas,

The number of replicas may range from several to hundreds of events in the next days or weeks after the onset of major tremor.

However, earthquakes that have their epicenter in the geographic area that includes the Mexican basin because of their size are rarely secondary shocks.

To date, there are no scientific techniques in the world that can determine when an earthquake will occur, nor can you know how big it will be.
