Thanks to the implementation of a law-guaranteed remuneration system, personal copying became the first source of income in Morocco (78.2%), which saw its collection increase six times in less than one year. year.
Regarding the collection of music rights, they increased 567%, bringing Morocco's contribution to collections in Africa to 7.8%, said CISAC, noting that African companies had raised 75 million euros in 2017 with a growth of 15.7%.
On a global scale, the rights collected for the creators of all repertoires, namely music, audiovisuals, visual arts, live performances and literature, reached a record 9.6 billion euros in 2017, an increase of 6.2% over the previous year.
Revenues generated by digital exploitation of works have been reported to exceed the first billion euro mark and show a 24.0% increase, indicating the same source, noting that this income nearly tripled (+ 166%) in five years "thanks to the growth of streaming general and, more recently, for the more successful streaming video ".
Regarding the repertoire of music, the collection reached 8.3 billion euros (+ 6.0%), with digital income qualifying for the first billion euros mark.
Although the increase in digital revenues in all directories reached 1.27 billion euros, this sector still produced a much lower amount than broadcast TV and radio and direct (direct) and atmospheric categories.
In addition, only 13% of maker revenue comes from digital (compared to 11% in 2016), "reflecting the extraordinary gap between the amount of content available online and the amount returned to content creators," according to the confederation.
