Tragic DJ Avicii was remembered at a memorial service for fans of the original Swedish superstar.
The Lonely Together singer, real name Tim Bergling, was only 28 years old when he reportedly took his own life in April (18), and on Friday (November 16, 18), hundreds of followers joined Avicii family members for special services at Eleonora's Hedvig Church . in Stockholm.
The musician's father, Klas Bergling, gave an emotional tribute to his moving poetry, which was delivered from a podium decorated with photographs of his deceased son.
Avicii music was also played throughout the ceremony, which ended with a choir performance from its 2013 successful song, Wake Me Up, reports E! News.
DJs were previously buried in private cemeteries in June (18).
The cause of his death was never officially announced, but his loved ones signaled Avicii's personal struggle in a statement released following his shock departure.
"Our beloved team is a fragile seeker, artistic soul who seeks answers to existential questions," his family said. "An over-accomplished perfectionist who travels and works hard at extreme stress. When he stops touring, he wants to find balance in life to be happy and be able to do what he loves most – music."
"He really struggled with the thought of Meaning, Life, Happiness. He couldn't go on any longer. He wanted to find peace," he continued. "The team was not made for the business machine he found himself; he was a sensitive man who loved his fans but avoided the spotlight."
