Last year, Bunnings Trade sold more than 50 flat-bed flats in New Zealand, with the 60-bedroom and two-bedroom models sold for $ 69,000.
The business launches its flats under the brand name Clever Living Co., advertised as "homes that move to you".
A spokesman for Bunnings at the Melbourne headquarters said: "The Clever Living Co Homes have been built in Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Taranaki, exported to Rarotonga, Palmerston North, Gisborne, Hawks Bay, Plenty Bay, Tauranga, Wellington, Central Otago, Central South Island, Otago. "
Prices include $ 69,131 plus GST for two-bedroom 60s m home to $ 113,541 plus GST for four-bedroom 106sq m without land or services such as power, rainwater and water.
Bunnings said he spent two years preparing to release the product.
"Bunnings has partnered with licensed construction specialists to develop the range and sees diversity in demand from regional and urban communities, from farmers to retirees to home buyers for the first time," said the business.
Des Bickerton, New Zealand's trade manager, Bunnings, said demand grew in the year after the launch.
"The lack of quality and affordable housing options has shown that Clever Living Co. can be well accepted as an affordable option," he said.
"With our partners, we have developed a number of different design packages with Angus's three-bedroom design, 96 square meters, which is the most popular, especially among retirees and buyers of a first house with small children," said Bickerton.
"We did a lot of homework, and the early result is encouraging, and as we get more feedback from our customers and builders, we expect to make some fine changes in the coming years to improve the bid," he said.
The products are designed and built off-site and transported to sites or delivered as packaging that are built on site by a registered builder.
The package includes appliances, kitchen, lighting fixtures, bathroom, wooden frames, roofs and other building materials.
Excludes coverage and on-site services such as water and power.
All residential projects include living room, dining room, kitchen and bathroom, said Bunnings.
Last March, the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment issued national approval to Bunnings Ltd, trading as Clever Living Co for the suflok design, a one-storey, two-room portable home of 83sq m.
Simon Hinds of Hinds builders in Waikanae on the shores of Kapiti said it was built around 20 Clever Living House in the past year for Wairarapa, Kapiti Coast and Eight in Wellington. Many went into Uenimita, he said. All of them are built in the courtyard, then transported to sites and arrive in packages with floors, frames and farms, exterior finishes and interior wall linings.
He plans to build another 22 of his Clever Living Co home: "I am impressed, I would not have done it if I did not believe it, in fact, it is a really good one-stop shop and all the package is done so that we know where things to do with windows, etc. "
The homes took about 10 weeks to build in the yard "start to finish, all painted and ready to go, kitchens and bathrooms and carpet ready to go down."
"The most popular model is Angus," he said for a 101-sq m home that sells to customers for about $ 220,000.
Although he is not involved in selling the full house and land package, he believes Angus's homes are sold for around $ 400,000 plus in his region.
Clever Living Co. all homes are powered by Mitsubishi heat pumps, Kaboodle kitchens, Blanco appliances, Stein showers, vanity and toilet and security cameras and lighting.
Frames are made of laminated veneer.
The business releases its smallest home as a merino with an area of 37.5 square meters, but the series is also available in larger sizes.
Oxford is 59.6 square meters, Suffolk is 82.6 square meters, Dexter is 101 square meters, Angus is 95.8 square meters, and Highland is 106.4 square meters.
Pamela Bell, chief executive officer of Prefab NZ, says the sector can react quickly to demand for new homes. PrefabNZ is a non-profit organization that aims to inform, train and advocate for innovation and excellence in design and construction.
