A group of researchers from Rutgers University in America discovered how insufficient the duration of sleep affects children's health. Their results were published by MedicalXpress, reports Zakon.kz.
This experiment involved more than 177 thousand people aged 8 to 17 years. It should be noted that sleep deprivation for up to 12 years is considered a dream that lasts less than 9 hours a day. In adolescents – less than 8 hours. This problem is found in almost half the subjects.
The scientists also found that sleep deprivation affected the formation of bad habits: children prefer fast food to healthy food and live an inactive lifestyle. All of this can eventually cause obesity.
Previously, Harvard scientists found that insufficient sleep duration caused mental problems in adolescents. In particular, they may experience uncontrolled attacks of aggression.
