Putting into operation of the first state-of-the-art bioethanol-driven combustion turbine of sugar cane in Reunion
Albioma announces commissioning on February 25, 2019, the first advanced biofuel burning turbine (TAC), located in Saint-Pierre, Reunion. The size of the investment is c. EUR 60 million.
Dedicated to the production of energy from renewable sources, the TAC works with two types of biofuels: bioethanol (80%) obtained from the distillation of sugar cane molasses produced on site at the Rivière du Mât distillery and diesel (20%) required to run of the turbine.
Provide peak energy, in addition to other means of island production
The combustion turbine (41 MW) is a flexible and powerful reactor for production. Designed to begin in less than 7 minutes, it accompanies the peaks of consumption, especially at the end of the day, and helps to protect the Reunion network. It facilitates network integration and the management of other renewable energy sources such as solar energy.
Albioma produces almost 45% of electricity in Reunion
To ensure network stability, for over 25 years, Albio has developed a unique partnership with the world of sugar, making it possible to convert bass into energy through two thermal power plants located near sugar factories in Gol and Bois-Rouge . In addition, Albioma, a leader in overseas solar power, has a large photovoltaic park on the island (27.8 MW). During the year, Albio will launch several factories with warehouses, including the Stade de l'Est Est (1,25 MW), as well as 51 roofless photovoltaic power plants in the dwellings of SHLMR (Société Anonyme of Moderate Houses Rentals in Réunion).
Albiooma uses its solutions in France and abroad
With the commissioning of the TAC, Albioom illustrated its engineering know-how and confirmed its status as a key player in renewable energy, controlling the main or advanced generation of electricity.
Albioma continues to innovate, serving the stability of electrical networks, mainly in isolated areas where the grid is fragile to speed up the energy transition.
Next meeting: Annual results for the financial year 2018, March 8, 2019 (before the market).
