DACCAR, January 26 (APS) – The tenth ordinary congress of Senegal's Information and Communication Professionals Symposium (SYMPICS) was officially opened on Saturday in Dakar in the presence of the Minister of Labor, Samba, and representatives of NGOs and civil society, the APS noted.
In addition to the Minister of Labor, Social Dialogue, Professional Organizations and Institutions, the opening of the event was attended by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Communication, Yoros Moussa Dialla, Regional Director. the NGO Article 19, Fatou Yang Sengor, and the director of Amnesty Senegal, Seidi Gasamah.
Deputy Samba Diouldé Thiam and Mademba Ndiaye, former head of the union, also attended the start of work to be interrupted by the election of a new Secretary-General to replace the outgoing Ibrhima Khaliloulah Ndiaye, whose term has expired.
Amadou Bamba Cassette Secretary General of the SYNPICS section of the Senegalese News Agency and Khaly Nar Fall of the Senegal Television Corporation are candidates for this post.
A minute's silence was celebrated in honor of the late journalists, Sidy Lamine Niasse, Ahmed Bachir Kounta, Saliou Traore and Alpha Abdallah Sall, at the opening of works involving members of various sections of the country's press groups.
The topic of the Congress organized by the National School for Health and Social Development (ENDSS) is: "What are the prospects for media professionals after the adoption of the Press and Collective Agreement?".
