Yes, this year PAPJAZZ has pulled out a series of music celebrities in Port-au-Prince. A fairly open night time set a tone for PAPJAZZ's 2019 edition. This is 6 pm on Saturday, January 19, when people gather at the Karibe Hotel or host the Heineken Stage at the Jazz Festival in Port-au-Prince. For the first night, a large amount of flamenco jazz, Antonio Serrano, comes straight from Spain, a party in the spotlight at PapJazz 2019! With the sweet melodies of his harmonica, Antony opens the show and performs for over an hour. The Spaniard admired his listeners with his flamenco notes mixed with jazz and classical music.

Meanwhile, you have to breathe a bit, and, like every year, the Follow Jah pedestrian group provides the animation by sounding the racket in the middle of the show. Everyone, dressed in green and circling the audience, Follow Jah took advantage of the opportunity to support the PAPJAZZ eco-green campaign, waving posters while entertaining the public in a carnival atmosphere that brought them to the evening.

It is now 8 am when the composer, percussionist and drummer Guadeloupe Sonny Troupé invest the scene for their jazz jazz, jazz wedding and gwo ka Guadeloupe. Energetic, he starts his performance in a dialogue that continues to the sound of his bass. With Sonny, do not get bored, his Jazz Creole musical style is infinitely loud. More than an hour's performance, and the audience, more than carried, makes it cheering.

At the end of the night we get the icing on the cake, the winner of five grammatical awards: Terrence Blanchard. Accompanied by his "E-Collective," the trumpet satisfies a wonderful performance. Funk, RNB and blues meet on stage through Teren's E-Collective mastery, composed by Charles Altura on the guitar, Fabian Almazan on the piano, David Ginnard junior bass and Oscar Seaton on piano. battery.

In short, this is a fascinating show that opened the 13th edition of the Jazz Festival in Port-au-Prince. Other more interesting shows are on the program for the rest of the festival, which will end on January 26th. Programming is available on the PAPJAZZ website. So this jazz in Port-au-Prince this week, enjoy the atmosphere!
