French carmakers are significantly worse than the market (-11.3%), PSA (Peugeot, Citroën, DS and Opel) fell 10.9% in June, while the Renault group (with Dacia and Alpine) , 7%, according to CCFA.
On the part of PSA, Peugeot dropped 14.7%, Citroën by 6.2% and Opel by 14.7%, while DS increased by 12.6%. Within the Renault group, registrations fell 13.1 percent for the diamond brand and 7.4 percent for the Romanian Dacia subsidiary.
A total of 230,967 new passenger cars were placed on the roads of France last month against 252,216 in June 2018. This month, this was only 19 working days compared to 21 last year.
In the first six months of the year, the French market declined by 1.83%, with 1,166 million new cars, 58.7% for French groups (58.5% for the same period in 2018).
PSA remains the leading manufacturer on the French market, with a market share of 33% for the group for six months (but 30% in June). As for Renault, it retains 25.7% of the market (and 29.1% in June).
Against the wave, the German Volkswagen Group monitored the increase in car registrations by 4.9% in June, driven by Audi (+ 17.5%), Seat (+ 12.3%) and Volkswagen (+0.5%). Its market share reached 12.4% in the first six months of the year and 13.2% in June.
Among other foreign groups, Toyota registrations grew 6.1% in June, Daimler (Mercedes and Smart) by 7.2% and Ford by 8%, while BMW, FCA (Fiat) and Nissan decreased by 24, 9%, 18.8% and 38.2%.
