Astronomers apparently did not find the big black holes this year because Kianush Mergan and his colleagues at the Max Planck Institute have discovered the largest black hole so far.
The Black Hole is located in the center of Galaxy 15A, 700 million light-years away. This black hole is more than twice the size of the previous black hole. It is 40 billion times the mass of the sun and 10,000 times the mass of the black hole in the heart of the Milky Way.
A team of astronomers spotted a black hole using a telescope, and data from observatories in Chile helped them detail the structure of the Holm 15A black hole and make simulations to explain the formation of the galaxy and its center.
The black hole is so powerful and large that it engulfs or closest stars to the edge of the galaxy.
