26,000 people die of colorectal cancer in Germany every year. In men, it is the third most common form of cancer in women, even the second most common form of cancer. But that should not be the case. According to the medical profession, many diseases can be avoided by following five simple rules.
IN VIDEO the risk of cancer increases every minute before the TV
Michael Hofmeister of the German Center for Research on Cancer at the Helmholz Association (DKFZ) says:
Anyone can reduce the risk of colorectal cancer while respecting a healthy lifestyle.
And regardless of genetic bias. Lifestyle factors include:
- Do not smoke
- Low alcohol consumption
- Healthy food
- Sufficient physical activity
- Normal body weight
A study of more than 4,000 colorectal cancer patients and 3000 healthy people showed that the risk of illness was lower, "the more the healthy way of life combines the participants in the study",
Each factor is just as important
Participants who do not smoke, eat healthily and have been physically active have a lower risk of colorectal cancer than those who do not have any of the five healthy lifestyles. Whoever complies with all five rules shows the least risk.
It plays an insignificant role, whether it is a smoking ban, a healthy diet or physical activity that has been taken into account. In all variants, participants in the study reduced the risk of colon cancer
According to the first author, Prudence Carr.
Even the participants in genetic bias managed to reduce their personal risk in this way. In addition to a healthy lifestyle, however, controls are essential to detect possible disease in the early stages.
