Winter weather is cold. On average two to four times a year, adults have cold, small children up to ten times a year. Cold is one of the most common diseases in Switzerland. Reina explains why we catch the cold and what we can do for it.
The cause of a cold is a small virus that enters our body through the airways. They multiply in the nose, throat and bronchi of our lungs. Who sneezes, throws viruses a few meters in the air and infects other people this way. Even if we shake our colleague's hand, it can spread cold.
However, we are not in the mercy of the cold. Our immune system, an endogenous defense system, creates a barrier against viruses as long as there is not too much at one time. If this happens, we will get sick and get the typical symptoms: trembling, sore throat and runny nose. If we also have severe colds, fever, body aches and cough, this may be flu. This can take up to 14 days and sometimes even dangerous.
When you catch the cold, it helps to rest, so the immune system can protect the virus well. Drinking enough tea or water helps the immune system. Sweetened tablets also relieve the cough and the painful throat
