"Liverpool" made its first signing on the January transfer window – and that's one for the future.
According to ESPN FC, the Reds have completed a move for 16-year-old French defender Billy Koumetio after a successful trial.
The youth spent some time with Liverpool under the age of 17 in November, traveling to Berlin to play a series of friendly matches.
And he was impressed enough to join for a nominal fee from the French second division of the American Orleans, which he joined from Lyon.
Koumetio will begin his career in Liverpool under the age of 16 and will try to cross the ranks to reach the first team of Jurgen Klopp.
Without the need to immediately sign the first team, the reds are sure to invest in their future with a series of signed academies.
In the summer they knocked Ki-Yana Hoyer from Ajax and already debuted in their first England Cup win against the wolves.
Bobby Duncan is also impressed by the season with a Manchester City goal last year.
