A missing Teenage girl from Prestwick was found dead in an abandoned building.
The police were summoned to Kersal Salford 20 minutes after the 16-year-old had disappeared from his home in Prestwick.
A 41-year-old man was arrested later on suspicion of murder.
About 9.20 pm Today, the police have been summoned to report that a 16-year-old girl has disappeared from her home in Prestwick, Bury. A little before 9.45 pm The police got a second call saying the girl was found dead in an abandoned building near Brookside Drive in Kersal.
The ambulance service was already present when the police arrived and unfortunately the girl was confirmed to have died.
The cause of the girl's death is yet to be established, but the detectives are currently working to confirm that she has sadly died.
"We are currently investigating the tragic death of a 16-year-old girl in Kersal, and it is our most important priority to find out exactly how she died.
"We arrested a man in connection with the girl's death, but we still hold open mind and explore all the possibilities.
"The investigation is still at an early stage and the building near Brookside Drive remains a scene.
"We would like to hear from anyone who has heard or seen something unusual this morning around Brookside Drive to get in touch as soon as possible.
"We are trying to collect this puzzle and give the girl's family the answers they deserve."
