The operation was shot by Cancer Research UK to highlight an innovative research project of £ 1.4 million for oesophageal cancer, one of the most difficult to detect and therefore difficult to treat cancer.

The Southampton General Hospital operation was conducted by Professor Tim Underwood, who is currently conducting the research.

Janet Jenkins, 65, from North Hampshire, had an eight-hour operation at the end of March. Charity kicked off the day to highlight the work being done in cancer research.
