The uterine cervix: The 30-second test that can save your life

The NHS advises women between the ages of 25-49 to carry out a cervical smear test every three years, but many avoid it because of fear or shame.

The test checks the health of cells in the cervix. Detecting abnormal cells early and appropriate treatment can help prevent cervical cancer.

Women aged 50-64 are recommended to run the test every five years.

Chloe Delevingne had a test picture of the Victoria Derbyshire program to raise awareness.
