According to the Unity, Tower of Obstacles provides a game-like environment for machine learning scientists to play with and adjust their AI. The tower works similar to a standard platformer game. Each floor is a unique puzzle that requires the AI to extend its action, make decisive decisions, and perform specific tasks to advance. The higher the tower rises, the more challenging the levels become. Just to make sure that AI can not be programmed to solve a particular puzzle, the levels are procedurally generated so they are never exactly the same.
Unity will launch the Obstacle Tower Challenge on Monday, February 11, the first stage of the competition will last until March 31st. At that time, participants would be able to manage their intelligence agents in the first 25 floors of the Tower of ObstaclesA second round will take place between 15 April and 24 May.
