In a suit and tie, Manny Pacquiao looks like his senator.
But on Monday he was busy with other tasks: announcing the defense of his WBA welterweight title against Adrien Broner on January 19 in Las Vegas.
"He's one of the best fighters at the moment," Pacquiao said, referring to Broner, who appeared with torn jeans, T-shirts and a black jacket. "Adrien Broner is a high level fighter."
The Philippines believes that the welterweight is its "natural weight", so he will have no problems in the division.
Pacquiao will be 40 years old when he entered the ring at the MGM in Las Vegas to face 29-year rival. This will be the 70th fight and the first in two years in the United States.
"My opponent is fast, well, I have to prepare myself well so people can see a good fight," Pacquiao said.
For Broner, this is a great opportunity to "become a legend".
Broner won 33 battles – 24 of them by KO – losing three and drawing. But it came from losing points against Mikey Garcia and drawing with Jessie Vargas.
"They dropped it" to Pacquiao, Broner comments. "It's known that he can be put to sleep. And I have the tools to do it." AP
