President Mnangagwa has appointed Mr. Ndavaningi Nick Mangwana Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services.
Mr. Mangwana replaces Mr George Charamba, who was promoted to the post of Vice President of the Secretary of the President and Cabinet (Presidential Communications).
Head of the Secretary of the President and Cabinet Dr. Misheck Sibanda confirmed the appointment of Mr. Mangwana in a statement yesterday.
"His Excellency The President has, in relation to Article 205 (1) of the Constitution of the Zimbabwe Amendment (No. 20) appoints Mr. Ndavening (Nick) Mangwana as Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services," reads part of the statement.
"Appointment is of immediate effect Mr. Ndabaningi (Nick) Mangwana has qualifications in Corporate Governance, Accounting, Law and Health Studies.
"He lived and worked in the UK where he was regular in international media representing Zimbabwe's stories in the world.
"He is also a columnist for The Herald and Voice People and writes about Africa. He will bring great technical competence and experience in contemporary media to the new office."
After the nomination, social media was disturbed by congratulatory messages.
Industry and Trade Deputy Minister Raj Modi tweeted: "For my brother from another mother @nickmangwana I say congratulations.
"You have promoted the country and the party in Europe and are very active in social media. This post is deserved."
By posting on his Twitter account, Gokwe-Nembudziya lawmaker Cde Justice Chairman Wadyajena said: "Congratulations on your appointment Cde @ nickmangwana! No doubt you actually deserve this recognition."
By posting on his account, another Twitter user named Xavier Hwaro HweZimbabwe posted: "Days of action-free action are dead and missing
"Now we need to mix politics and economy. Zimbabwe is safe only in the hands of zanu-pf # President Mnangagwa in the launch of the election zanu-pf manifesto."
@muvhure posted: "It's not how you start that matters, but how did you end up."
