Blackout be Announced Next Month?

We do not have a new installation in Alien movie franchise anytime soon, but that does not mean we will not get a video game. Last week, a trademark was submitted to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) by 20th Century Fox, making the name Alien: Blackout available for use in games ", namely, game software, computer game and video game software". What's more, if Geoff Keighley is to be believed, there's every chance we'll see his announcement at The Game Awards on December 6th.

Developer Cold Iron is a studio owned by 20th Century Fox and is currently working on "a new PC and console shooter based on Alien "The studio is yet to release a game of their own since their foundation in 2015, but the company was set up by several former members of Cryptic Studios, the team behind games like City of Heroes, Star Trek Online, and Neverwinter. During an interview with back in January, CEO Craig Zinkievich said the game would "explore areas of the universe that fans have not gotten to experience."

At the beginning of November, Keighley teased the image below for the above-mentioned The Game Awards. Those of you who know the Alien franchise may already be noticing the similarities to both the Building Better Worlds slogan and the font used by the Weyland-Yutani Corporation, the fictional company trying to capture and control xenomorphs so they can be used as biological weapons … and and a lucrative source of money. If those worlds will really change, what have they got planned now?

The Speculation of an Announcement at The Game Awards has also been fueling Keighley's friend Hideo Kojima paying a visit to 20th Century Fox where he was pictured with Alien memorabilia. We'll be reporting all the news from the awards as it happens on December 6th, so make sure you keep your eyes peeled on TA to see what's going to heppen next in the world of Alien.
