The happy family is expecting a new arrival later this year

She and Matthew have been together since 2007, meeting on Emmerale's set and with her two sons.

Their pregnant news came almost a year to the date of their surprising wedding when they gathered family and friends at the castle to celebrate Charlie's 30th anniversary.

But their guests did not know that the happy couple planned to tie the knot there and then.

Charlie walked with her bridesmaids – Lucy Pargeter, Roxie Shahidi, Zoe Henry, Charlotte Belami, Sammy Winnour, Emma Atkins, Kate Oats and her sister Cassie – and her father Jeff Hordley, who met her husband with 100 shocked guests

"This moment when we announced what we are doing and seeing the reaction of everyone is the best moment in my life," she said for her big day.

"That's how we had to do it the way we wanted it – it was not traditional, we had no sitting food, and there were not many speeches.

Charlie and Matthew were co-stars at Emmerdale when they gathered in 2007

– Someone once told me that their friend had a wedding surprise, and that remained in my mind.

Matthew added, "We could not get a better answer, people just screamed for about ten minutes!"
